Sci-fi author writes over 100 books in 9 months using AI including ChatGPT and MidJourney
[ad_1]
“My journey into a new realm of high-tech creativity and storytelling began in August 2022. Armed only with my imagination and a handful of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, I ventured into the world of AI-assisted publishing without any map or guide.
“My goal was straightforward: To craft a series of unique, captivating ebooks merging dystopian pulp sci-fi with compelling AI world-building. Today, I am on the cusp of releasing my 97th book, and was recently featured on CNN— all within nine months.” Boucher wrote in an article for Newsweek recently.
Boucher’s books are named ‘AI Lore books‘. Each of his book has 2,000-5,000 words, along with 40-140 images that are AI-generated. The author further revealed that the process of writing and publishing each of his book takes him roughly six to eight hours. However, in some cases, it took him just three hours for it!
“This unprecedented rate of production is possible due to AI tools like Midjourney (version 5.1) for image generation, and ChatGPT (version 4), and Anthropic’s Claude for brainstorming and text generation,” he wrote for Newsweek.
The author also said that between August 2022 to May 2023, he has sold 574 books and made roughly $2,000 (INR 1,65,143). He says that his stories are generally interconnected, which draws his readers to come back again to read more.
Boucher says that using AI has helped him write the stories, which have been brewing in his head for a very long time. “AI has proven to be a remarkable catalyst for my creative work. It has enabled me to increase my output while maintaining consistent quality, and has allowed me to delve into intricate world-building with an efficiency I could never have achieved otherwise. I’ve been able to breathe life into stories and narrative universes that have been brewing in my mind for years. I’ve even used AI to help me code mini-applications that will further streamline & speed up the creative process in the future,” he said in the piece.
Commenting on how AI can change our lives forever, and even cause the end of certain jobs, Boucher wrote, “Contrary to the popular belief that AI will replace creative jobs, I see AI as a powerful tool to enhance and accelerate our capabilities and capacities, and to make us better at whatever we do… I am convinced that the intersection of AI and storytelling holds enormous potential, and I am eager to see where this journey takes us next. Our imagination is the only limit.”
Meanwhile, in other news, Nobel Literature laureate Mo Yan recently revealed that he used the help of ChatGPT to write his speech for an event — which has created quite a stir in the literary space. READ MORE details here.

Feeling blue? Chinese company now offers 10 leaves for employees who are feeling unhappy
[ad_1]
Yu Donglai, Founder and Chairman- Pang Dong Lai, recently shared that his employees who are feeling overwhelmed or too unhappy can now request 10 days of leave. These “unhappy leaves” are apart from the annual 20 to 40 days leaves and the weekend offs that the employees already get.
“Everyone has times when they’re not happy, so if you’re not happy, do not come to work…This leave cannot be denied by management. Denial is a violation,” business tycoon Yu Donglai said, as per reports. Commenting on the need for such a move, Donglai further said, “We do not want to be big. We want our employees to have a healthy and relaxed life, so that the company will too… Freedom and love are very important.”
It is noted that in a 2021 survey about workplace anxiety in China, over 65 per cent of employees in the country had reported of either being tired or unhappy at work.
This move by Donglai in his company has been a hit among not just Chinese nationals on their social media like Weibo, but also among people in other countries. Many have hailed Donglai’s progressive approach to having a better work-life balance, especially in a time when stress and mental health issues are important topics that are being spoken about.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time when Donglai has taken a step for creating better work places and work-life balance. “Making staff work overtime is unethical and an expropriation of other people’s opportunities for growth,” he said, condemning long working hours.
In India, it is noted that Infosys Founder Narayana Murthy‘s 70-hours work week remark had created quite a controversy back in 2023. While some industry experts supported his ideology, many others had opposed it calling it regressive in the digital age.
